"And it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise."
(ROTK, Book 6, Chapter IX: The Grey Havens).

The Night Before The Big Day

Yeech! I'm not very good at this regular blogging, am I?! Oh well....

The night before the wedding the girls and I stayed at The Mariott Hotel in Brisbane. It was absolutely gorgeous! And the view was SPECTACULAR!

We got there around midday dumped all our stuff and went for a little wander through the city in the hunt for some lunch...and Krispy Kremes (Yummo!) Later on we went for dinner at the Coffee Club at the top end of Queens Street....food was average but the company was grand :)

We wandered back to the hotel and the girls practiced walking in their heels while I had it out with my sister who had decided that was the point in time when she thought it was best to tell me she didn't want to be my Maid of Honour. I let her have it and she eventually sucked it up and did the right thing.

Between the Krispy Kremes and Spongebob Squarepants, it was quite a good night :)

The lead up

The lead up to the big day seemed to be going perfectly. Then there was the dress hiccup. But I got over that and everything seemed to be going ok. Happy days.

Not.

3 weeks out from the wedding we get a call from Brookwater Golf Club, our reception venue, to inform us that the function coordinator, Jessica, had quit and could we come in and meet the new one, Carlita. Sure, why not, it can't be that bad, Jessica had a WHOLE folder with all of our details and plans for the reception in it, surely Carlita would have received it.

No. Because that would have been logical.

This woman was hopeless. I'm sorry, but she was thicker than 2 bricks. We had to give her all of our details again and then she turned around and said that half of the things that Jessica had assured us would be taken care of, wouldn't be. My list of things to organise ballooned. I now had to organise the place names and table numbers. She informed us that she would organise the menu cards and send us a mock-up. It was terrible. The wording, the layout, everything. So there was another thing I had to fix for her. Even then she didn't get it right. It was meant to be one per person, she did 2 per table.

*deep breath*

I got through it. I stayed up late creating templates, filling in details, printing, cutting, folding. Finally, everything was complete and I could drop it all off the day before the wedding with the cake, the cake topper and the guest favours.

Luke had a hard time with Carlita as well. Two weeks out from the wedding he is trying to work out the acoustics for the evening and he's told that the ONE person who knows about the sound system is away on holidays and NOBODY else would tell him anything, they just kept telling him to wait for this fellow to come back. Real professional.

The fellow comes back from holiday the week before the wedding, and Luke could tell him more about the system then he could, no one there knows how anything works! We were in the middle of a conversation with Carlita and Luke mentioned running some cables and hiding it with gaffer tape. About 5 minutes later she pipes up and says "Oh, sorry, i phased out for a minute. I love gaffer tape!!" Excuse me, but who the hell does that in front of clients!! Luke had to supply all the cables and the black cloth to go over the table, even though he had been told previously that they would be supplied!

There were many more problems we had with her, she couldn't do anything right!

All in all it was a crazy 2 weeks leading up to the wedding, but we got it all done in time :) Praise be!

Just few changes

Hello :)

I thought it was high time there were a few changes around here. The most obvious being the layout and design of my blog, but also, I will be changing my URL as well. "The wedding files" is now slightly outdated.

I was considering calling it "The marriage files" but I'm none to keen on that one. So what do you, my loyal readers, think? Have you got any suggestions? I'm going to keep on thinking and I will let you know when I'm going to change it so you can update your bookmarks :)

I'm also embarking on 2 new ventures. I will be creating 2 new blogs. One will be a collection of day to day recipes that I try or create myself. Everything from cupcakes and cookies to roasts and pilaff's. The second will be a little slower getting off the ground. I'm hoping to take/post a photo a day. Nothing in particular, just whatever takes my fancy. I'll let you know when these ventures are ready for viewing :)

Enjoy!

The Hen's Night

Hello my lovelies, it's time for the promised posts :)

I thoroughly enjoyed my hen's night and it's all thanks to my lovely bridesmaids and all their hardwork :)

The morning started off with the hair and make-up trial. Kerry from Desirable Events supplied the makeup and Heidi from Hair Design did our hair. I was very very happy with both of these ladies work. Heidi even went beyond the call of duty and re-modelled our hair so that we could wear it that night and not give away our wedding hairstyles :D

Then we all got spruced up and headed out to South Bank for some fun and games and some yummy dinner at the Satay Hut :)

The girls made me perform numerous embarrassing tasks. They managed to rummage a truly horrible picture of Luke and made me show it to random strangers whenever someone said his name, accompanied by the words, "Hi my name is Carol, it's my Hen's night and here's the man I'm marrying" Needless to say i was bright red all night :P

Then a few of us headed back to Luke's place for a girly night of movies and chocolate. The girls kicked me out of the lounge room and covered it in streamers and balloons and confetti......The clean up was interesting ;)

Here's just a few piccies.....

And me with Kita
