"And it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise."

The lead up

The lead up to the big day seemed to be going perfectly. Then there was the dress hiccup. But I got over that and everything seemed to be going ok. Happy days.

Not.

3 weeks out from the wedding we get a call from Brookwater Golf Club, our reception venue, to inform us that the function coordinator, Jessica, had quit and could we come in and meet the new one, Carlita. Sure, why not, it can't be that bad, Jessica had a WHOLE folder with all of our details and plans for the reception in it, surely Carlita would have received it.

No. Because that would have been logical.

This woman was hopeless. I'm sorry, but she was thicker than 2 bricks. We had to give her all of our details again and then she turned around and said that half of the things that Jessica had assured us would be taken care of, wouldn't be. My list of things to organise ballooned. I now had to organise the place names and table numbers. She informed us that she would organise the menu cards and send us a mock-up. It was terrible. The wording, the layout, everything. So there was another thing I had to fix for her. Even then she didn't get it right. It was meant to be one per person, she did 2 per table.

*deep breath*

I got through it. I stayed up late creating templates, filling in details, printing, cutting, folding. Finally, everything was complete and I could drop it all off the day before the wedding with the cake, the cake topper and the guest favours.

Luke had a hard time with Carlita as well. Two weeks out from the wedding he is trying to work out the acoustics for the evening and he's told that the ONE person who knows about the sound system is away on holidays and NOBODY else would tell him anything, they just kept telling him to wait for this fellow to come back. Real professional.

The fellow comes back from holiday the week before the wedding, and Luke could tell him more about the system then he could, no one there knows how anything works! We were in the middle of a conversation with Carlita and Luke mentioned running some cables and hiding it with gaffer tape. About 5 minutes later she pipes up and says "Oh, sorry, i phased out for a minute. I love gaffer tape!!" Excuse me, but who the hell does that in front of clients!! Luke had to supply all the cables and the black cloth to go over the table, even though he had been told previously that they would be supplied!

There were many more problems we had with her, she couldn't do anything right!

All in all it was a crazy 2 weeks leading up to the wedding, but we got it all done in time :) Praise be!

I hope you complained to the venue about such poor service!

I have often thought about being a wedding planner, but I think it would be a bit stressful with all the bridzillas around hehe...

Yeah, we're in the process of making a complaint about her. We had issues with her running of the night as well, just waiting on some receipts to come through before we do anything.

I only had one bridezilla moment and that was at the rehearsal, but i have heard some horror stories!
